The Best Wall Art Ideas for Large/Blank Walls: Mystery Revealed

Oversized statement-making wall art can really change the look and feel of your home, but let’s be honest, it can also have an oversized price tag.

As a luxury design expert, I’ve experienced quite a few large walls in hundreds of homes, and if you don’t use the right scale it can make the room feel off balance.  Here are few tricks of the trade to keep in mind.

Two of a Kind

Using two identical pieces hung together as one is always a good alternative to an over-sized piece when decorating a tall narrow wall such as this one.

I often come across projects that involve hanging multiple works of similar art – which could be the same print in various colors or shapes, or simply using the same subject as we’ve done here.  The result is beautiful and makes quite an impact.

Modern interior with oversized artwork

Oversized Artwork

Next is oversized Artwork hung gallery style!  It’s always best to go slightly bigger vs. bringing it home and it ends up being way too small. So, if you have the option to choose, go BIG!  And a quick pro tip here: if you have an oversized piece of art and no furniture available to put beneath it, hang the artwork gallery style which slightly lower than average and gives offers more of a gallery feel.

Metal circle wall art

Metal Wall Art

Metal wall art like these circular pieces have always been a staple in my inventory!  They are so versatile and can adapt to any size wall.  They are best when used in pairs to create an oversized piece for large walls, long walls or simply awkward spaces.

And a final tip here, Remember that bigger is better with large or long walls. Happy decorating!
