Moving to League City? What you need to know about Living in Bay Area Houston

Kemah Boardwalk view from the pier.

My first week in League City was so much better than I ever expected!  My hubby and I settled into our summer rental on Memorial Day weekend 2021, and with the Kemah Boardwalk less than 10 minutes away, that was first on the agenda. We ate, we drank, took in the sights, and simply stopped for just a moment to take in the beauty that surrounded us.  It was much more enjoyable just knowing those moments would be the start of a fabulous summer in Bay Area Houston.

What I am so excited about is being able to explore the area as a local.  You’d be surprised at how many people are willing to give you more insight to the area when you say “I just moved here”.  They are genuinely happy to share their knowledge of things you simply HAVE to see and experience.

Seabrook is a quaint, coastal community we initially considered as our permanent residence. It offers all sorts of recreational opportunities including boating, hiking, biking and fishing. The Kemah bridge and highway allows easy access from Seabrook to Kemah with breathtaking sights along Galveston Bay and is currently under construction which is expected to be completed by mid-2022. Just south of Seabrook is League City, TX, where my husband and I decided to settle in as our home and here’s why . . .

League City is a waterfront community nestled along the shores of Clear Lake. It’s only 30 miles south of downtown Houston, with close proximity to Galveston Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. The sea breeze makes coastal living much more enjoyable when outdoors which really suits our lifestyle. League City also ranks among the safest, most affordable, and best places to live and raise a family in the state of Texas and in the US. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy the coastal atmosphere. What I love most is there are so many hidden water features within the area and the scenic wildlife surrounds you.

This photo was taken just steps outside our summer rental in League City.

During my first week in League City, I did A LOT of shopping.  Mostly for getting settled in our rental unit, but I was also finishing up an installation for one of my client’s bedrooms.  So, I decided to hit up Bed, Bath and Beyond off Bay Area Blvd, and I was quite impressed by the local influences which made me even more excited about my move!

When I’m putting a room together, whether I’m staging to sell or styling a home for a family, I prefer to shop local.  Now don’t get me wrong, I love me some Amazon Prime, but when you add local influences to a room makes it feel more like home.  Incorporating a few local decorative items in to your design is the most inexpensive way to freshen or add a new look to your home.  Decorative accessories add the sparkle and that gives your home a completed look.  It’s like adding jewelry to a change up the look of a plain, black dress.

Needless to say, I’ve enjoyed my first week here and can’t wait to share all that develops along the way.  I’ll be blogging about our new dream home journey along the way so stay tuned.  Kemah, Seabrook, League City, and Bay Area Houston; shopping local and giving your home a new style!

XO,
