Want To Know How To Organize Your Gift Wrap Station?

It’s Easier Than You Think

Being a Professional (W)rapper Has Its Perks

The holidays are sneaking up on us and we can't believe it is already time to start talking about gift wrapping. If you have dozens of gifts to wrap and keep forgetting how much wrapping paper you have (or don't have), you'll benefit from some solid organization hacks. Whether you have an abundance of ribbons and bows because you keep forgetting where you put last year's stash and have to buy more, or you are trying to bring calm and order to your chaotic holiday season, keep reading.

I. DESIGNATE A WORKSPACE

Your gift-wrapping station should have a permanent place in your home. Perhaps it means giving your craft room table a dual purpose or repurposing a mostly empty closet. Avoid using your dining room table, kitchen island, or other commonly used space.

II. ASSEMBLE THE BASICS

You'll need a table or countertop that is at least 3' x 3' and wall space for hanging organizational caddies or bins. If you lack wall space, you can use space under the table or countertop instead. You'll also need good overhead lighting and a place to sit, or an anti-fatigue mat if you choose to stand.

Best practice tip: Don't use your workspace as storage space. Your table or countertop should remain empty and ready for use.

III. GET ORGANIZED

Put every bit of wrapping supplies in one spot and sort like-with-like: Gift bags, wrapping paper, trimmings, labels, and gift boxes should each be their own category. If you are short on space, store rolls of wrapping paper overhead using wooden dowels placed a few inches from the ceiling. This allows you to easily see and access every roll of wrapping paper.

To store bows and ribbons, use shelves and labeled bins to keep everything sorted. If you have integrated drawers or a separate and smaller drawer unit, reserve this for scissors, tape, and other tools.

PRO ORGANIZING TIP #1

Don't hide anything.

If you can't see it, you'll forget you have it. Use clear organizers whenever possible and make sure your labels are specific. This will help you replenish items in a timely fashion.

PRO ORGANIZING TIP #2

No space? No problem.

If you just don't have room for a designated gift-wrapping station, go mobile with it. Clear, rectangular containers of varying sizes will be your best asset β€” stackable and storable.
